Overview
A well-established European cosmetic brand approached us ahead of their Malaysian market entry,
bringing a portfolio of 84 SKUs across skincare, colour cosmetics, and personal care. With a regional
launch event locked in and no prior NPRA experience, they needed a partner who could deliver fast.
Client Background
A European-headquartered personal care group with strong presence in 30+ markets. Malaysia was their first
Southeast Asian launch. Their Malaysian distributor had been appointed but lacked the regulatory expertise to
handle NPRA submissions independently.
The Challenge
84 SKUs across multiple product categories, each with different NPRA notification requirements. Hard launch deadline a regional trade event 5 months away. Several products contained ingredients requiring additional substantiation under Malaysian cosmetic guidelines.
Our Approach
We conducted a full portfolio screening in week one, categorizing all 84 SKUs by registration pathway and identifying 12 products requiring additional artwork revision, and ingredient documentation. We prepared aphased submission schedule prioritizing hero SKUs for the launch window and liaised directly with NPRA on
all queries resolving 3 substantiation requests without requiring any formulation changes. Weekly status
updates provided to both the brand and their Malaysian distributor.
The Outcome
84 of 84 SKUs notified within 1.5 months. The brand's Malaysian retail and e-commerce launch proceeded on schedule. The client has since engaged us for their Singapore (HSA) registration and Thailand market
assessment.
